Privacy Policy
KlapUp is a mobile app that lets you compliment your friends. Users vote for their friends and classmates. When you vote for someone, they’ll receive a notification that someone has voted for them. Because KlapUp is designed for younger people, we care deeply about safety and user privacy. We limit the data we collect to what’s necessary to use the app and connect with friends. Below, we outline what data we collect, how we use and share it, and your rights.
Data Collection & Use
Account Data
When you sign up for an account on KlapUp, you're asked to enter your email, name, school, grade level, gender, username, and profile photo. This data identifies you to other KlapUp users and makes it easy for your friends to find you on the service.
Device & App Activity Data
When you use the app, we automatically collect certain information about your device (like type, OS, IP address, and unique identifiers) and how you interact with the app (such as actions you take and how long you use it). We use this to improve KlapUp, build new features, and keep our systems secure.
How We Share Data
We do not sell, rent, license, or lease your data to third parties. We may share it with:
- Service Providers – hosting services, customer support, analytics, etc.
- Professional Advisors – lawyers, accountants, and similar professionals.
- Business Transaction Recipients – parties involved in mergers, acquisitions, or other corporate transactions.
- Legal & Safety – government authorities or others where required by law, or to protect KlapUp, users, or third-party rights and safety.
How You Share Data
You use KlapUp to vote for school classmates. When you vote for someone, we send your vote (including your public profile information) to your friend via the app. Your friend may reveal your name if they subscribe to additional services.
Data Retention
We keep your data only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy and where we have no legal obligation to retain it.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Visibility – disable visibility in your profile settings so you don't appear on the leaderboard and others can't vote for you.
- Access – download the data we have about you (where required by law).
- Delete – request that we delete your data (subject to legal exceptions).
- Correct – fix inaccuracies in the data we hold about you.
- Stop Processing – tell us to stop processing your data.
- Object – object to how we process your data.
- Complain – complain to the data protection regulator where you live.
To exercise these rights, open a ticket in the app with the username and email linked to your account. An authorized agent can also make these requests, but we may still ask you to verify your identity.
Children
KlapUp is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If we learn that we have, we'll delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our business or legal requirements. We'll post the new version here and, if the changes are significant, notify you via the app.
